If you experience a major event resulting in significant damage to your home and flooring, contact your insurance company immediately to notify them of the damage. Your insurance company will contact a restoration company to provide immediate assistance to remediate the situation, if required.
A restoration company will act quickly to address the damage, this may include removing flooring, drywall, and contents from the affected areas, adding dehumidifiers and blowers, or in the case of significant fire damage, demolition. The restoration company may also make the required repairs or complete replacement or damaged materials, or they may coordinate specialized trades like Floortrends to assist in the replacement.
When the restoration company visits your home, they may take samples of your current flooring, or they may contact Floortrends to collect the sample and measure the area. Once the flooring sample is collected, it is examined to determine the type and quality of your flooring in order to set the budget for your replacement.
ICC is an organization that evaluates flooring sample and determines the total cost to replace a floor with a similar quality product. ICC is an independent organization, separate from your insurance company, the restoration company, and Floortrends.
As soon as the insurance validation process is completed, we are allowed to proceed with beginning the replacement procedure. An estimator will contact you or your restoration company to set up a meeting to select your new flooring.
Please wait until you are contacted to come into the store as we have specifically trained staff members who specialize in insurance claims who will reach out to set up an appointment with you once we receive your validation report. If we do not have the validation report, we are unable to determine allowances covered within your claim. Our general sales staff will not be able to show you products that meet your budget, provide upgrade costs, or answer questions specific to your situation.
The insurance claims process can be slow and frustrating at times when you want to get your home back to normal as quickly as possible, however Floortrends can not commence the replacement process until the above steps are completed and approval is granted from your insurance company. Coming in before the validation report is received will waste your time and ours, please wait to set an appointment with the appropriate estimator.
If you select a product that costs more than the approved replacement amount, you are responsible for paying the difference prior to beginning the replacement.
Unfortunately, while your insurance claim is open we can NOT provide another quote to you outside of the ICC validation process. The quote we submit is determined by ICC’s pricing for materials and labour, we have to follow their guidelines and are bound by that quote until it is either accepted and the job is completed, or it is declined, and a settlement is reached.
Some homeowners may opt to take a cash settlement and fix the damage independently instead of the restoration company performing some of the work and/or coordinating the trades required. If you opt for a settlement, we would be happy to help you with your flooring project and provide the best product for your renovation!
Don’t worry, we’re here to help. Please contact us below with your questions and we’ll get back to you within 1 business day.
